Old
Abe Bike Trail:
The
Old Abe Trail is a paved, 19.4 miles, multi-use trail. It
winds through agricultural and forestland while following
the Chippewa River. There is an abundance of wildlife and
natural beauty. One of the trailheads is located northeast
of Chippewa Falls. From Hwy 53 follow Cty Hwy S for about
5.5 miles. At the junction of Hwy S and Hwy O turn left on
97th Ave. State Bike Pass required for 16 and over. Self registration
passes available at the trailheads in Cornell at the Millyard
Park, and at Lake Wissota on 97th Ave (junction of Hwy S &
Hwy 0). In Chippewa Falls passes are available at the Chippewa
Falls Visitor Center, 10 S. Bridge St., and at Spring Street
Sports, 12 W. Spring Street.
Hickory Ridge:
This trail is 14.2 km in length and winds through the quiet
and scenic oak and aspen forest. If consists of 3 challenging
loops. Located in northern Chippewa County in the County Forest
the trail begins at the parking lot off of 225th Ave. (Bob
Lake Rd).
Irvine Park:
This is a two-mile gently rolling trail. The trail is located
in the city of Chippewa Falls on Hwy 124 North. For more information

River Road Trail:
There are two separate trails through rolling terrain and
along the more-gentle grade of the River Road to the parking
area. The River Road is located along the Chippewa River.
The Blue trail winds through some of the more challenging
terrain with steeper downhill and uphill grades. Travel north
on County RD CC from Cornell for about 2.2 miles to 239th
Ave. Turn east and travel about 0.4 miles to the trailhead.
Lake Wissota State Park:
Located
on Cty Hwy O, the park offers over 11 miles of scenic trails
that pass along Lake Wissota’s shoreline. Although the
trails are not developed for biking, bikes are permitted on
all but three of the trials. A State Park sticker required.
Brunet Island State Park:
Located in Cornell just off of Hwy 64 and 27 the State Park
has over 4 miles of ski trails. The Timber Trail is about
one mike long, crossing the interior of the island. It travels
through a wooded area recovering from a tornado whit his the
park in 1977. The Jean Brunet trail is a ¾ self-guides
nature trail, which follows some of the channels on the north
part of the island. The Nordic Trail winds through wooded
terrain for about 4.3 miles. The Pine Trail connects the Timer
and Spruce trails to each other. There is a one-mile bike
trail that connects to the Old Abe State Trail. A State Park
sticker required.
Dear Fly Trail:
Located in the County Forest in Northern Chippewa County.
From the north the trail entrance is located two miles west
of junction of County Rd M And E. This area comprises approximately
8,589 acres. Glaciated in the past, this are is a portion
of the terminal moraine of the Chippewa Lobe of the Great
Wisconsin Glacier.
