2025 Construction Projects

The Engineering Department will be reviewing the 2025 projects for issues covered under the one year warranty. Upon evaluation, contractors will be on-site to make those corrections and complete any remaining punchlist work.

Chippewa Street Project (Wisconsin Street to Summit Avenue)

The Chippewa Street reconstruction project was awarded to Haas Sons, Inc. The project includes underground utility work (storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main), curb and gutter, street surface and driveways. The project began on June 3rd, 2026. In the next week, concrete crews are expected to be on-site mid-week to begin curb and gutter and driveways. During concrete construction, driveways will be inaccessible until the concrete has at least 5 days to cure.

Miles Street Project (Terrill Street to Wheaton Street)

The Miles Street reconstruction project was awarded to Haas Sons, Inc. The project includes underground utility work (storm sewer, water services, sanitary services), curb and gutter, street surface, sidewalk and driveways. The project began on June 22nd. In the last week, concrete crews finished all concrete on the project and fine grading was completed. In the next week, the lower lift of asphalt will be paved and boulevard restoration will begin. Paving of the lower layer of asphalt will begin the morning of August 3rd. Wheaton Street intersection is currently closed with a signed detour. The mailbox bank for the Miles Street project is located at the intersection of Miles Street and Terrill Street.

Willow Street Project (Mansir Street to Albert Street)

The Willow Street reconstruction project was awarded to Haas Sons, Inc. The project includes underground utility work (storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main), curb and gutter, street surface, sidewalk, and driveways. The project began on July 29th. In the last week, roadway removals were completed. In the next week (beginning August 3rd), utility crews will be on-site to begin work on sanitary sewer main and storm sewer main. The crews plan to begin at Willow and Albert Street and work westerly. Contractors will also be completing temporary water installation to all of the affected properties. Willow Street is a walking route for mail service, so no temporary mailboxes will be required.

Chippewa County Road Construction Updates

STH 124 Roundabout Project

Elm Street to the CTH S roundabout will be repaved in 2026. The roundabout will be closed starting July 20^th for 17 days.  The detour will follow River St, USH 53, and County Hwy B. STH 178 Project

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will be completing a highway safety improvement project at the intersections of Cashman Drive and Olson Drive with STH 178. The work includes installing a traffic signal at the Olson Drive intersection and making modifications at the Cashman Drive intersection to restrict through and left turn movements.
