2026 Construction Projects

Canal Street/Tilton Road Project

The Street Department is currently working on a pavement replacement of Canal Street and Tilton Road from Old Eau Claire Road to Nelson Road. In the last week, roadway grading was completed.

Park Avenue/Main Street

Xcel Energy will be replacing gas mains on Main Street near the intersection with Park Avenue beginning the week of August 31st. Closures and lane shifts will be in place. Use caution when travelling in the area and follow posted detour signs.

Chippewa County Road Construction Updates

STH 178 Project

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will be completing a highway safety improvement project at the intersections of Cashman Drive and Olson Drive with STH 178. The work includes installing a traffic signal at the Olson Drive intersection and making modifications at the Cashman Drive intersection to restrict through and left turn movements.

WIS 178 remains open to traffic, but motorists will encounter:

• Possible single-lane closures on WIS 178 between 6 a.m. Mondays and 3 p.m. Fridays
• Active traffic signals at WIS 178 and Olson Drive
• No access to Cashman Drive from WIS 178
• Scheduled to be completed by late September.
