Goodwill NCW awarded Employer of the Year for new partnership at Stanley-Boyd High School

Lake Hallie, WI—On February 27, Goodwill North Central Wisconsin (Goodwill NCW) was honored to receive the Employer of the Year Award from the Stanley-Boyd Forward Service Corporation Job’s for America’s Graduates (JAG) program. JAG is a state-based national nonprofit organization that serves youth who face significant challenges to help them reach economic and academic success.

Goodwill NCW's partnership with JAG offers students hands-on opportunities to practice job skills that prepare them for future employment.

“Goodwill NCW is honored to accept this award,” Tim Wavrunek, Mission Team Leader at Goodwill NCW said. “Our partnership with the JAG program exemplifies our mission to provide pathways for people to build job skills, sustain employment and improve their financial stability.”

Through the partnership, students learned how to select appropriate interview outfits, participated in mock interviews, attended sessions focused on employability skills and trained in different areas of the Lake Hallie Goodwill store.

“This award is given to an employer that connects our students with opportunities to strengthen their employability skills and helps them gain essential experiences which advance them towards their future goals,” Jessica Gumness, Senior JAG Career Services Specialist said. “We want to award Goodwill NCW for going above and beyond to help our students gain skills to make their future more successful.”

The new partnership between Goodwill NCW and the Stanley-Boyd Forward Service Corporation JAG program was modeled after a similar partnership Goodwill NCW has with Wausau’s Enrich, Excel, Achieve Learning Academy JAG Program. The partnership developed after Gumness was inspired by information at an event last year where Goodwill NCW won Employer of the Year award for the Wausau collaboration.
