Defibrillators donated to local Boys & Girls clubs

Chippewa (WQOW) - On Monday, TDS Telecommunications partnered with the Chippewa Falls Boys & Girls Club as part of an effort to boost safety nationwide.

TDS donated a lifesaving automated external defibrillator (AED) to the club.

AEDs are used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

The device can analyze heart rhythm and deliver an electrical shock if necessary.

The Eau Claire Boys & Girls Club will also receive an AED within the next couple of days.

The director for the Chippewa Falls club expressed extensive gratitude for the donation.

"This is an amazing opportunity for our club and our community as a whole. We do everything that we can to be a safe place for kids when they can't be at school. So, having that extra step of an AED on site means that our CPR certified staff can step in and offer that life saving support even faster," said Tasha Weiss.

Other local partners such as Northwestern Bank will contribute to donating AEDs in the area.

Seven total devices will be distributed to local clubs and schools this month.
