Chippewa Falls Middle School Moves Toward Excellence
Following a comprehensive presentation to the Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District Board of Education on May 27, 2025, Chippewa Falls Middle School (CFMS) announced remarkable achievements that could position the school as a statewide leader in education.

As Wisconsin's 7th largest middle school serving approximately 1,000 students, CFMS has achieved exceptional results while serving a diverse population with 30% economically disadvantaged and 15% special education students. The school is only one of eight Wisconsin middle schools fitting this demographic profile while meeting state expectations.

"Our students are outperforming state averages in both reading and math while demonstrating remarkable character growth," said CFMS administration during their board presentation. Key achievements include reading proficiency at 55.53% (state: 51.67%), math proficiency at 56.03% (state: 53.33%), and a 94.4% attendance rate.

The school has transformed its culture through a 60% reduction in behavior incidents and a 1,100% increase in positive recognitions. With a suspension rate of just 4.9% compared the state average of 16%, CFMS creates an environment where learning thrives.

Currently positioned just 6.4 points from "Exceeding Expectations" status, CFMS could become the first large, diverse middle school in Wisconsin to achieve this distinciton. The school has already improved 5.4 points over two years.
