PROTECT YOUR MOST VALUABLE INVESTMENT

What is Property Fraud?

When someone illegally uses your property for financial gain.

How does it happen?

Someone records a fraudulent document at the Chippewa County Register of Deed’s Office attempting to make it look like they own the home or property.

What to do about it?

Your Chippewa County Register of Deeds has teamed up to create a notification service called Property Fraud Alert.  Subscribe to receive FREE alert notifications of property recordings based on your name.

How to sign up?  Three easy ways:

  1. Go to http://pfa.fidlar.com/WIChippewa and register your personal name or business.
  2. Call the Chippewa County Register of Deeds office at 715-726-7994.

How does it work?

While Property Fraud Alert will not prevent fraud from happening, it will provide an early warning system that will allow property owners to take appropriate actions should they deem possible fraud activity has occurred with their property. Property owners will be notified only when the name they have submitted to Property Fraud Alert is found on a document recorded in the Chippewa County Register of Deeds office.
