2026 Beef & Dairy Forage Seminar to be Held March 27 in Bloomer

Farmers, agricultural professionals, and community members are invited to attend the 2026 Beef & Dairy Forage Seminar on Friday, March 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Back 40 Dining & Cocktails in Bloomer, Wisconsin. Registration will begin at 11:15 a.m.

The seminar will feature a series of presentations from University of Wisconsin–Madison Extension specialists and industry professionals focusing on forage production, crop management, market outlooks, and current issues affecting dairy and beef operations.

Topics will include forage and crop rotation considerations when transitioning from dairy to beef operations, strategies for managing crop rotation to improve water quality, the latest dairy market outlook, emerging issues affecting alfalfa production, updates from the Midwest Forage Association, crop insurance updates, and results from local on-farm nitrogen management research.

Featured speakers include Ryan Sterry, Extension Regional Livestock Educator; Bill Halfman, Extension Beef Outreach Specialist; Todd Prill, Extension Agriculture Water Outreach Specialist; Leonard Polzin, UW–Madison Extension Dairy Market and Policy Outreach Specialist; Luana Dantas Queiroz, UW–Madison Extension Alfalfa Outreach Specialist; Chelsea Russel and Hally Frandrup of the Midwest Forage Association; Kelly Jones of Compeer Financial; and Jerry Clark, Extension Crops and Soils Educator.

Lunch will be provided courtesy of Compeer Financial, and attendees will have the opportunity to earn three Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) credits.
