Family Support Center Executive Director Announces Retirement

After more than 28 years of service at Family Support Center (FSC), Geri Segal, Executive Director, is announcing her retirement. As the longest serving director in FSC’s 44-year history, Geri has led Family Support Center through incredible growth. Under her leadership, the scope of services provided has expanded exponentially, including: the creation of the Sexual Assault Services Program in Chippewa and Eau Claire Counties (including on the UW – Eau Claire campus), the Lethality Assessment Protocol, the Rapid Re-Housing Program, the Human Trafficking Case Management program, and many domestic violence and sexual assault prevention initiatives. Notably, Geri ushered in FSC’s 36-hour, 4-day work week.

“I began this job when I was 34, and it has left an indelible imprint on me. While I have guided the Family Support Center in substantial growth during my 28-year tenure, the growth it has fostered in me is so much more. I have been so inspired by the participants we work with and my work family. FSC does indeed change lives; we get to be part of our participants’ healing journeys and bear witness to their incredible strength and resilience. It has been a privilege to work with such incredible colleagues over the years, past and present. We have shared lots of laughs, successes, and challenges. They have been an inspiration to me, and I have learned so much from them. I am so happy to be handing off the Executive Directorship of FSC to Jeni Haddad. She is a compassionate, smart, and creative leader, and I am excited about where she will take the agency,” says Geri Segal.

Jeni Haddad, incoming Executive Director, remarked, “I have been working in the anti-violence field for almost 20 years. . . and have been at Family Support Center for 13 years this June. It has been one of the major honors of my life to work directly with the extraordinary survivors of violence who are so resilient, inspiring, and who have welcomed me into their lives and experiences. I look forward to stepping into this new role and am honored to follow in Geri’s footsteps.”
